Job Description
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is a temporary 9month 20 hour per week academic year position responsible for providing primary care to the SU student population under the supervision of the Medical Director. The Temporary Nurse Practitioner (NP)will refer to specialists and outside medical facilities when necessary. The NP will consult with the Medical Director and collaborate with other practitioners as needed to assure comprehensive care is provided. PA/NP will engage in campus health promotion and medical education activities. This position should always be expanding his/her knowledge base and stay uptodate on current best practices by participating in relevant continuing education.
Responsibilities
Assess diagnose treat and follow up patients for medical illnesses/injuries. Attend appropriate meetings and serve on committees and work collaboratively with other SUHS staff in collaborative efforts to improving efficiency and quality of care provided to students. Communicate and coordinate with appropriate community medical providers mental health providers health care facilities and community agencies when needed to provide collaborative patient care. Engage in continuing education to stay current on best practices and fulfill and maintain state licensure and national certification. Meet regularly with supervising Medical Director to establish and evaluate goals concerns etc. Other duties as assigned.
