Are you passionate about supporting families and ensuring children are placed in safe permanent homes We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kinship Care Permanent Care Assessor to join our team in the North Central region. This exciting pilot position will play a key role in completing permanent care assessments for the Kinship Care Case Contracting Team.

Position Title: Kinship Care Permanent Care Assessor
Location: North Central Region
Employment Type: FixedTerm PartTime (Until June 30 2026
Reports To: Out of Home Care Practice Leader
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive permanent care assessments for children placed in kinship care arrangements.
Assess the suitability of longterm placement options within the kinship care system.
Collaborate with the Kinship Care Case Contracting Team to ensure assessments are thorough and aligned with organisational standards.
Provide written reports and recommendations based on assessment findings.
Work with external partners families and other stakeholders to support children in achieving permanent care solutions.
Ensure that assessments meet all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of practice and processes within the Kinship Care team.
To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:
Proven experience in Child Protection kinship care or a related field.
An understanding of the issues relating to the placement of children in alternative placement contexts and with child protection involvement.
Strong report writing and documentation skills.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on building relationships with children families and stakeholders.
A commitment to supporting children and families to achieve longterm positive outcomes.
Desirable Attributes:
Previous experience in conducting permanent care assessments.
Knowledge of the North Central regions community services and resources.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
