Alberta Health Services Department of Addictions & Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry Department of Psychiatry is inviting applications from psychiatrists with expertise in Geriatric Psychiatry.
Our multidisciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry nursing psychology occupational therapy social work education and speech and language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.4 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is the largest freestanding tertiary rehabilitation center in Canada serving patients of all ages who require complex rehabilitation to enable them to participate in life to the fullest. As a leadingedge academic teaching hospital the Glenrose participates in educational training programs for health sciences professionals and offers an array of research and technology development opportunities.
The new Doctor will perform clinical duties of initially looking after 4 inpatient beds at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital with expectations of joining the consultation service at GRH. They will be on call for one week out of every every five weeks providing consultations to inpatients at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital. The doctor will also provide outpatient Clinical services at GRH Hospital one day a week providing new consultation and assessments followup appointments and engaging with telehealth services for the region. The doctor will provide ECT services for GRH inpatients at Royal Alexandra Hospital once a week.
The incumbent will collaborate with community geriatric psychiatry programs working within multidisciplinary teams for common patients. They will be required to provide active educational services & teaching role to Psychiatric residents Fellows geriatric medicine residents care of the elderly residents and medical students . The doctor will be strongly encouraged to engage in clinical research studies after mutual discussions.
Remuneration will be based on feeforservice billings.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have an MD and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry for licensure in the province of Alberta and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. The successful candidate is encouraged to apply for a Clinical Faculty appointment and be committed to fulfilling clinical and nonclinical duties as a representative of the Department of Psychiatry.
