Minimum Qualifications1 Massachusetts ESL License2 Successful teaching experience as an ESL teacher3 SEI Endorsement 4 Evidence of knowledge of the Massachusetts English Language Development Standards and Can Do Descriptors (WIDA)5 Evidence of Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks Reports to: Building Principal Job Goal: The ESL Teacher provides instruction that assists students in reaching a level of English proficiency in reading writing speaking and listening as outlined in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and WIDA Standards.Performance Responsibilities:1 Plans organizes and provides specialized instruction in English using English Language Development Standards Can Do Descriptors and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.2 Develops and delivers lesson plans utilizing appropriate scaffolds and accommodations to assist students in acquiring appropriate reading writing speaking and listening skills in English.3 Administers language assessments (WIDA Screener).4 Maintains complete and accurate records of students progress and evidence of growth and progress; writes quarterly progress reports and report cards.5 Clearly communicates to classroom teachers and parents/guardians regarding ongoing student progress and instructional needs.6 Schedules organizes and administers statemandated assessments (ACCESS) for EL students.7 Completes and maintains appropriate records regarding statemandated forms and procedures for EL students including (i.e. FEL OptOut Waiver) and other records as mandated by the principal and ESL Coordinator.8 When applicable assists classroom teachers in providing Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies into the classroom. Evaluation by: Performance on the job will be evaluated periodically in accordance with the criteria listed above as performance responsibilities and with the provisions of the School Committee policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.
