General Overview
The goal of our laboratory work is to use genetics to elucidate the molecular basis underlying abnormalities of the heart rhythm and heart function. Much of our recent work has focused atrial fibrillation which is the most common arrhythmia. To identify novel pathways for atrial fibrillation we are using a broad range of techniques including population genetics electrophysiology and animal models of arrhythmias.
Responsibilities
Participates in design of experiments
Performs basic design and modification of protocols
Conducts animal care and procedures
Calculates transcribes and analyzes data
Prepares and presents reports
Organizes and/or drafts materials for the preparation of manuscripts or other documents for publication and/or presentation
Maintains and orders supplies and oversees supply budget
Requirements
Masters degree required
Requires 3 years experience
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
Ability to work independently and as team member
Ability to interpret acceptability of data results
Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be highly reliable and organized
Demonstrated competence in research techniques and methodologies
High degree of computer literacy
Full-Time
