Position Summary:
Under the Summer Camp Directors direct supervision the OneonOne Summer Camp Counselor supervises a child with special needs and diverse abilities enrolled in the YMCAs Summer Camp Program. The OneonOne Camp Counselor will guide daily camper activities while enforcing camp rules and policies. Expected Camp dates are late May until midAugust and is a seasonal position where the employee will voluntarily separate at the conclusion of the season.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide guidance for a camper with special needs/diverse abilities in daily activities
2. Maintain a high level of professionalism while performing each task as a OneonOne Summer Camp Counselor
3. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant developmentally appropriate and consistent with the childs needs abilities and limitations.
4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
5. Attends staff meetings and training as required
6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures including those related to medical and disciplinary situations child abuse prevention and emergencies
7. Follow and enforce camp rules with the ability to respond appropriately to accidents incidents and emergencies.
8. Availability to work a 67 hr daily shift which will either start at 6 am or finish at 6 pm MondayFriday 2540 hours per week.
9. Ability to work ten 10 out of the eleven 11 camp weeks
