Job Description

Special Education Teacher (LBS1 PreK8 Illinois FullTime

Start Date: Upcoming School Year

Location: Multiple PreK 8 openings across Illinois

Job Type: FullTime

Position Summary:

As an LBS1 Specialist you ll lead a resource room classroom developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each students academic and developmental needs. You ll work sidebyside with families support staff and general educators to ensure every student is supported on their unique learning path.

About the Role:

Create a structured positive classroom environment using effective behavior management strategies.
Design and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse learning styles and individualized goals.
Provide instruction in core academic areas while reinforcing socialemotional and life skills.
Maintain open ongoing communication with families and caregivers.
Track student progress keep accurate records and continuously refine instructional methods.
Build an inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation confidence and independence.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a Bachelor s or Master s degree in Special Education or a related field and possess a valid Illinois teaching certification in Early Childhood Special Education. A solid understanding of early childhood development and effective behavior management strategies is essential. While prior experience working with children with disabilities in a preschool setting is preferred strong communication and teamwork skills are critical for collaborating with families and colleagues to support student success.
