GENERALSUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Technology ImplementationResearch Center (TIRC) is looking to hire a postdoctoral research fellow forcomputational modeling of human joint biomechanics. The TIRC offers theopportunity to be at the forefront of translational research and to work witha close knit team of highly experienced scientists engineers and clinicians. Thegoal of the project is to develop patientspecific computational models tostudy biomechanics of native human joints such as the knee/shoulder/anklebefore and after joint replacement surgery. These models will serve as avaluable platform to better guide surgical decisions and implant design.
PRINCIPALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The postdoctoral fellow willbe responsible for conducting musculoskeletal simulations (inverse/forwarddynamics) finite element analysis writing IRB protocols designing andexecuting in vivo and in vitro (cadaver) studies and preparing projectreports/scientific manuscripts. The postdoctoral fellow may also assist inpreparations of grants and training of other research staff. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIESREQUIRED:
- Excellent knowledge ofmusculoskeletal modeling (inverse dynamics / forward dynamics simulations) andproficiency in one or more related tools such as AnyBody LifeModeler etc.
- Excellent knowledge offinite element analysis techniques and high level of proficiency in one or morerelated tools such as ABAQUS/ANSYS/ COMSOL
- Experienced indesigning and conducting in vivo and in vitro (cadaver) experiments
- Strong computer aideddesign skills and proficiency in one or more associated tools such as SolidWorks/ProEngineer/ CATIA
- Strong hands on design/ prototyping experience
- Strong written and oralcommunication skills
- This position is performed on the Main Campus of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston MA.
- PhD in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering required
