Job Description
General Purpose
We are looking for passionate dedicated and creative staff to work directly with schoolaged campers by engaging and providing supervision for them at camp while making a positive impact in their lives. Counselor will work in cooperation with the director assistant directors and fellow camp counselors carrying out specific program activities. Prior experience working with children is required.

Remote Tier 1:Zero 0 days remote/week.

- Available June 16 August 15.
- Follow all departmental and state rules and regulations.
- Assist in planning and instruction program.
- Check area for safety hazards and report deficiencies to supervisor.
- Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
- Report all accidents and incidents occurring within jurisdiction to supervisor.
- Administer proper First Aid as required.
- Required to be on site 15 minutes before the program starts for setup and preparation.
- Required to clean up at the end of the day.
- Participation in the evaluation process.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements
- Ability to actively support City diversity equity and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework in education childhood development family studies or recreation preferred.
- Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for activity programs.
- Ability to deal effectively with discipline problems coworkers and supervisors.
- Knowledge of safety principles and practices as they apply to group activities.
- Knowledge of a variety recreation/leisure activities and group games.
- A cooperative attitude and team player.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Enthusiasm patience a desire to work with children and creativity.
- Ability to pass a State of Vermont Background Check for Childcare Providers and be fingerprinted as part of the process.
- Complete required trainings before the start of the camp program as part of the child care licensing.
