Job Description
PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION
The primary purpose of your job is to assist physical therapists in administering services in accordance with current applicable Federal State and local
standards guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed to assure that the highest degree of quality care and
safety can be maintained.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY
As a physical therapy assistant you are delegated the administrative authority responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Administers physical therapy treatments to inpatients and
outpatients under the direction of physical therapist. Treatments
include but are not limited to: passive active activeassisted and
resisted therapy i.e. therapeutic massage gait and transfer
training all modalities traction orthotic/prosthetic training.
Measures joint ROM strength girth of body parts and vital signs
as indicated.
Meets regularly with Rehab staff to update therapy programs and
assess effectiveness.
Assists in daily upkeep of physical environment linen and
equipment maintenance.
Maintains progress notes in patient records as indicated.
Maintains necessary department statistics.
Assists Receptionist with charge slips updating patient numbers
monthly diagnoses as necessary in the absence of receptionist.
Ensures Business Office receives charges for rehabilitation
services rendered.

Able to treat all age groups include pediatrics adolescents
adult and geriatrics.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Is alert for patient safety at all times.
Continually monitor the condition of equipment.
Communicates patient status goals and treatment plans with all
other relevant disciplines and staff members.
Demonstrate competence in basic knowledge and application of
clinical skills.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assume additional
responsibility.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Two 2 year Physical Therapy Assistant degree or equivalent.
Massachusetts licensed
EXPERIENCE
Must have as minimum experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant in a hospital SNF or other related medical facility.
Must have training in rehabilitation and restorative therapy practices.
