Current licensure asa Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Graduateof an accredited nursing program.
Bachelor of Sciencein Nursing preferred; new managers must have a BSN degree effective May 2016.

The Nurse Manager working in Ambulatory Nursing is a Registered Nurse with the oversight and management of daily operations for a clinical practice. The nurse manager is responsible for assuring competent compassionate individualized nursing care for patients is provided by the staff including but not limited to medical assistants licensed practical nurses registered nurses and nurse practitioners he/she manages. He/she is accountable for patient safety and quality of care. He/she collaborates with the practice manager and physician leader in the practice to ensure that teambased care is coordinated comprehensive and that care transitions are seamless. As part of the unit leadership team he/she is jointly responsible for operational and fiscal efficiency and effectiveness of the unit.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct patient care within the Scope of RN no less than 20 hrs/week for reimbursable visits with patients.
- Chronic disease manager on site overseeing clinical initiatives in chronic disease at the site and the community
- Supports all providers in areas of disease management programs Joint Commission Safety and Quality
- Patient Advocate in collaboration with Corporate Patient Advocate.
- Vaccine management directly or through delegation to RN
- Infection control in collaboration with Infection Control Director at corporate office
- Annual employee flu vaccination
- Tracking of Pap and all diagnostic tests
- Phlebotomy as needed.
Management and evaluation of all clinical operations including nursing medical support and community health related services and operations
- Design evaluate and monitor practice works to ensure service excellence operational efficiency and maximization of role groups
- Coordinates scheduling and work systems that support adequate coverage and the smooth flow of daily clinical operations.
- Secures resources for staff.
- Ensures support and resources for regular huddling activities.
- Trains and supervises staff and monitor Point of Care testing and specimen collection activities.
- Performs timekeeper and payroll related activities.
- Manages resources within an unit budget. Oversees a supply inventory management system. Oversees the delivery of facility administered medications.
- Interviews recruits and makes recommendations for hiring. Conducts annual performance evaluations. Conducts competency testing as needed.
Assures staffing which provides competent compassionate patientandfamilycentered evidence based nursing care utilizing the nursing process and interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration.
- Utilizing their assessment critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment the nurse manager expedites the delivery and/or delegation of appropriate care and treatment to the patient
- Regularly reviews staff documents to ensure quality and timeliness
