The mission of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program is to heal the invisible wounds of war including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) by connecting post9/11 veterans and military families to world class care. Home Base provides clinical care and support services as well as community education and innovative research. Home Base is a program at Massachusetts General Hospital with clinical research and education efforts dedicated to improving the treatment of Post 9/11 Veterans and Families. It is also part of a novel collaborative network of academic medical centers. Under general supervision of the Associate Director of Research of the Home Base Program the individual serves as a vital member of the Home Base research team responsible for working with data in coordination with the data management and database programming team and for statistical analyses and reporting. This will include naturalistic clinical outcomes monitoring and reporting as well as data analyses for multiple research projects. Specifically the successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on program evaluation data and clinical treatment outcomes conducting a range of basic and advanced statistical analyses across Home Base outcomes and research projects and generating and completing data analytic plans for grant applications for the Home Base Program.This position may involve providing mentorship to a variety of staff on statistical analysis and approaches clinical outcomes and research processes optimizing data collection for future analysis and reporting of results. The individual will also work with the Senior Administrative Manager and Information Systems Manager on reporting needs and will assist the Chief Medical Officer and Associate Director of Research in research grant applications and strategic planning efforts related to measuring program outcomes and research.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include working with the Associate Director of Research Information Systems Manager data manager and research assistants to help oversee rigorous data collection monitoring and management of a broad range of clinical research and education program data and to complete data analyses and reporting on multiple concurrent program outcomes and research projects. Maintains and updates data components of grant and program progress reports. Job duties require application of statistical methods in medical settings and knowledge of rigorous data management analysis and reporting. Assists Chief Medical Officer and Associate Director for Research with the preparation of grant applications (e.g. power estimation statistical approach and data analytic plans). Assists Associate Director of Research with operations of the Home Base Research Program. Participates in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines case report forms source documents proper data storage and data quality assurance methods. Participates in training of clinical research coordinators clinicians and clinical support staff on the use study data data structure and statistical methods. Work with data managers to develop and implement systems to ensure data quality including programmed audits and logical data checks. Consult with investigators on statistical analytic approach case report forms and database design. Participate in regularly scheduled data calls for multisite clinical or research efforts or studies as requested by Chief Medical Officer and/or Associate Director of Research. Assist with preparation of programlevel networklevel outcome reports including responsibility for data cleaning statistical analyses and writing of results. Participate in data preparation and analyses for reports manuscripts and presentations. Assists with special projects as needed.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Working knowledge of all MS Office applications and biostatistics software (e.g. SAS R Stata). Excellent communications skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in research publication and grant support a plus. Knowledge of research methodology and statistical analysis. Knowledge of data collection standards entry and maintenance of study documentation. Knowledge of regulatory IRB procedures and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. Ability to present results from statistical analyses Proficient in SAS R Stata or similar advanced statistical package programming Treatment outcome statistical analyses power calculation Advanced statistical structural equation modeling and nested models testing Ability to multitask set priorities and work independently Ability to explain technical concepts to varying levels of research staff Excellent organizational skills Strong oral and written communication skills Project management Familiarity with basic HTML and/or php a plus

EDUCATION:

PhD or MPH/MS with a strong background in data management and analysis and experience in project management and reporting; The job requires a doctoral or masters degree in public health or biostatistics or a related field
