JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for applying expertise knowledge in mental health pedagogy and behavior to help students succeed academically socially behaviorally and emotionally. Provide assessment support and intervention services to students; partner with families teacher and other professionals to create safe healthy and supportive learning environments. Collaborate with school teams to improve schoolwide policies; and collaborate with community providers to coordinate services for students.
EDUCATION TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- A specialist degree or its equivalent in School Psychology or Educational Psychology or eligible for a Florida Educators Certificate in School Psychology.
- Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in the field of School Psychology including 1200 hours of supervised internship with at least 600 hours completed in an elementary or secondary school setting
OR
- A degree from a specialistlevel program of study from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited or approved graduate training program in school psychology that includes the following:
- Minimum of 60 semester hours of graduate credits in school psychology
- Completion of a minimum of 3 semester hours of supervised and sequenced practical experiences prior to required internship
- Completion of 1200 hours of supervised internship with at least 600 hours completed in an elementary or secondary school setting. No more than 6 hours of internship credit may be applied to the 60semester hour requirement.
OR
- A doctorate degree or a degree from a specialistlevel program of study in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology with a nondegree respecialization in School Psychology. Respecialization must include
- Completion of an individualized plan of study and supervised field experiences in a NASPapproved graduate preparation program in Florida that grants recognition for previously completed relevant coursework field experiences and identifies additional graduate courses and supervised experiences consistent with the NASP Graduate Preparation Standards. A minimum of 15 credits must be completed in the School Psychology training program that documents eligibility for nondegree certification.
- Completion of 1200 hours of supervised internship with 600 hours of a supervised school psychology internship completed in an elementary or secondary school setting. Supervised internships previously completed as part of the health services psychology graduate training program may met up to 600 hours of the School Psychology internship requirement.
- Documentation from the school psychology graduate training program that the candidate demonstrates the competencies of a professional school psychologist across the NASP Domains of Professional Practice and meets the criteria for nondegree certification as a School Psychologist.
OR
- Valid and current credentials as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist issued by the NASP
