Education/Degree
Required: BSN
Preferred: MSN


Experience

Required: Minimum 3 years of relevantprofessional practice in the specialty area

Preferred: Experience in both clinical andadministrative roles

Licensure

Required: Current license from MassachusettsBoard of Registration as a Registered Nurse.

Preferred: Experience relevant to the patient populationserved preferred.

Skills(Specificlearned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills keyboardingpresentation CPR ACLS etc.

Required:
  • Nationalcertification in a nursing specialty preferred. Computer proficiencyrequired.
  • Microsoftoffice applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
  • Preferred:
  • Highlydeveloped communication and interpersonal skills working with diversepopulation.
  • Workindependently be self directed and contribute as a member of a team.
  • Anticipateschallenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.

TheClinical Practice Manager (CPM) is a hospital based nurse leader with expertise inthe area of specialization who promotes competent compassionate andprofessional nursing care for patients/families at Spaulding Cape CodRehabilitation Hospital. The CPM supports independent nursing practice ofprofessional nurses through education consultation care delivery rolemodeling and mentors and coaches less experienced nurses. Ensuresadherence to evidence based practice and assumes administrativeresponsibilities to support nursing unit operations on all three shifts.
  • Specialtyclinical consultation and expertise is provided to professional nursespatients/families and the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patientoutcomes.
  • Healthcaretrends including new technology and research findings are identified andintegrated into clinical practice to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Learning needsrelated to the specialty are identified and programs and systems are developedand implemented to address these needs for patients families and staff.
  • Workcollaboratively with the Staff Education Supervisor to ensure thatall educational activities are integrated
  • Competencytesting is provided to the staff to achieve performance goals.
  • Performanceimprovement and patient safety issues related to the specialty are identifiedand addressed. Status reports on the progress of these issues are sharedwith relevant stakeholders including nurses.
  • The CPM guidesand/or participates in several critical patient care activities each dayincluding the following: bedside care; documentation review; huddles; teammeetings; interdisciplinary team conference; and walking rounds.
  • Patient safetydata is measured and analyzed and recommendations are made to achieve patientsafety and interdisciplinary team performance goals.
  • Supervisepatient care delivery and guide staff to achieve the best outcomes for patientsand families.
  • Positivepatient experiences are promoted and aligned with broader organizational goals.
  • Participatesin the completion of performance reviews for staff in conjunction with theDirector of Nursing (DON).
  • Maintainsresponsibility for own development and learning needs.
  • Promotesculturally competent care.
  • Additionaldepartment organization or network activities are completed in accordancewith established guidelines and objectives.
