Job Description

Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Requires demonstrated written and verbal communication skills ability to utilize the nursing process and to work collaboratively. No experience required; one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred It is the policy of McLean Hospital to affirmatively provide equal opportunity to all qualified applicants for employment and existing employees without regard to their race religion color national origin sex age ancestry protected veteran status disability sexual orientation gender orientation or any other basis that would be in violation of any applicable law or regulation.Utilizing the nursing process the ECT nurse is responsible for providing for immediate and longterm nursing care needs of patients receiving ECT within the standards of the department hospital and regulatory agencies. Works within the treatment team to provide pretreatment assessment treatment monitoring and postanesthesia recovery management for individuals and to assure the smooth flow of patients through the ECT process. Uses multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health issues functional status and safety concerns communicates patient condition and need for altered care with treatment team and demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care needs. In addition establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients initiates and continues pulse oximetry oxygen saturation and EKG monitoring throughout treatment and recovery demonstrates safe accurate and timely monitoring of cardiac and respiratory status and promotes interventions that provide the leastrestrictive and safest recovery.This is a per diem nonbenefitted position. The ideal candidate possesses both psychiatric and medical nursing experience and is available to work full time (MonFri) during training and then either 8 or 10 hour shifts or parents hours 10am2p or 11am3pm) as needed (MonFri). Employment at McLean Hospital is contingent upon a successful CORI (Criminal Background Check) National Background Check and clearance from the Occupational Health Department.
