Cardiac Sonographer Cardiac Diagnostics

PRN/OCC Variable Hours Day Shift

Fort Sanders Regional Overview:

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is an awardwinning certified and accredited facility with 468 beds. As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center Fort Sanders offers stateofthe art care that maximizes recovery from stroke. We are also the regions leader in technology in areas such as bariatric surgery robotic surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. Our doortoballoon times for heart attack patients are below the national average and our hip fracture center offers advanced diagnosis surgery and recovery procedures for hip patients.

Position Summary:

The candidate will work in a Covenant Health System Cardiac Diagnostics Department utilizing state of the art technology to assist our cardiologists in diagnosing congenital structural and diseaseprocess cardiac issues. The candidate will perform procedures to IAC standards and guidelines to include transthoracic transesophageal and stress echocardiograms.

Responsibilities

  • Understands crosssectional human anatomy physiology pathology and medical terminology to obtain optimal studies.
  • Precepts and trains new employees and students in the technical aspects of echocardiography.
  • Assists with ICAL credentialing (where applicable) and/or lead performance improvement projects for department as deemed necessary.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of advanced medical terminology.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in all facets of performing optimal studies to include pertinent clinical history related diagnostic procedures ultrasound physics normal anatomy and pathological variants. Also demonstrates competent performance of critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to agespecific patient needs.
  • Assists in the maintenance of equipment supplies and imaging areas.
  • Able to perform at advanced level in ultrasound testing on patients by utilizing 2dimensional 3dimensional Mmode spectral Doppler color flow Doppler speckle tracking and other postprocessing functionality along with exercise and stress echo exams.
  • Performs as primary liaison between patients physicians and other members of the support team. Provides patients and families with procedure explanation and/or written documentation of procedure.
  • Demonstrates competency in production use recognition and analysis of images and patterns used for patient diagnosis and treatment. Able to complete preliminary reports including a range of measurements and motion to assist the physician with test results.
  • Able to develop and maintain good working relationships both inter and intradepartmentally; to foster good customer relations to maintain open lines of communication with colleagues providers and patients and to observe the Covenant Health Mission and Values.
  • Participates in continuing education for optimal patient care public education and enhanced knowledge and technical competence.
  • Able to perform and train on correct drug procedure and supply charging stock maintenance and vendor ordering procedure.
  • Efficiently coordinates daily work distribution and patient flow for both self and other staff based on experience.
  • Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Five years experience as a Cardiac Sonographer. Preference may be given to individuals with experience in a hospital setting.

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain a CCI ARRT or ARDMS Registry. American Heart Association BLS prior to hire.
