Hatch is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our team in St. Johns NF. The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will manage and execute small to medium sized mining and industrial mineral processing type projects.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and executing small to medium sized mining and industrial mineral processing type projects;
- Developing front end engineering scopes of work workerhour budgets cost estimates and staffing requirements;
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all engineering activates; Supervision of a project and project team from concept to completion;
- Provision of cost estimates in small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines;
- Full knowledge understanding and application of Electrical Codes Standards and Regulations; Collaboration with project management/engineering staff to achieve project objectives;
- Enforcement of technical policies and procedures and advise project team of their assignments and deadlines;
- Promotion of safe work practices and ensuring that team members conduct work in accordance with company safety and quality policies and procedures;
- Participation in regular project meetings and assessment of ongoing project needs;
- Ensuring of accuracy of work by all project team members and the meeting of deadlines;
- Interaction organization and administration of client relationships;
- Provision of technical support to clients and junior and intermediate engineers;
- Delegation of duties to junior and intermediate engineers as appropriate whilst ensuring followup and completion of such activities to quality and regulatory standards; and Maintenance of positive relationships with clients team members and extradepartmental individuals in order to maximize cooperation and deliverables.
- Preparation and review of all engineering documentation within discipline including but not limited to the following documents lists calculations and detail drawings;
- Instrumentation and Controls Design Criteria Control Philosophy and conceptual design of industrial control systems Control Narratives instrument index I/O lists instrumentation calculations data sheets specifications selection and sizing P&IDs system architecture drawings instrument location drawings installation detail drawings wiring and interconnection diagrams ISA loop drawings motor control schematics.
- Overseeing production of scope of work documentation engineering and construction work packages and performing quality checks and verification of compliance to all relevant standards and internal procedures;
- Checking and verifying construction drawings vendor drawings material requisitions and approval of bid tabulations and field checkout;
- Construction support commissioning and startup assistance;
- Interact and coordinate with the broader regional automation team to assist collaborate and service projects outside local market enforce and promote engineering best practice development of skills and strategic team alignment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a strong interest in industrial process control automation and computer systems.
- At least ten 10 years experience specializing in the design of industrial instrumentation and control systems for mining and mineral processing type projects.
- Versed in current statutory regulations industry standards and recommended practices and a practical sense in applying such references; DCS and PLC control system hardware and architecture; SIS systems hardware and architecture;
- Excellent planning and drive to deliver results and meet quality cost and schedule targets; Plant site instrumentation control systems control valves and communications;
- Practical instrumentation system reliability maintenance and repair standards;
- Understanding of Electrical hazardous area classifications and specification of plant site equipment; Electrical and instrument fittings and interfaces;
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality programs and procedures;
- Technical strength coupled with interpersonal skills; Strong PC skills and polished professional written and verbal communication.
Desirable
- Experience with engineering tools such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (InTools Intergraph) Plantspace P&ID (Intelligent P&IDs Bentley Microstation) 3D modeling (Bentley) and Relational Databases (administration & coordination).
- Experience with digital communications and fieldbus technologies networking and hardware; DCS (Siemens PCS 7 DeltaV) or PLC (Allen Bradley) hardware and software.
- A registered professional or in the final stages of registration.
