Provide high quality client responsive service and expert technical advice and direction on a range of multi disciplinary projects and support our Senior Urban Designers Planners Placemakers Consultants and Project Managers in producing high quality graphical and design input for planning design place and other development and infrastructure projects. The position requires a person that has the ability to evolve design concepts and ideas to add value to our projects and help our clients.
As the successful candidate you will:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (internal and external including clients and coconsultants) through the envisioning design and delivery phases of projects.
- Coordinate design led solutions to achieve project objectives.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge on latest design techniques and contribute to the exchange of information and design and project leadership across practices and teams.
- Undertake research and obtain insights conclusions and recommendations from complex data and incorporate into strategies and projects across planning place and design disciplines.
- Coordinate and undertake documentation preparation and ensure quality control protocols are followed.
- Contribute to the advancement of the teams master planning/urban design and project development capability philosophy and standards of presentation.
- Liaise with team members clients and coconsultants and attend meetings and workshops to provide updates on project progress and deliverables as well as present design ideas/ concepts. Assist in local national and international urban design related and multidisciplinary projects covering project visioning develpment strategy master planning and detailed design.
- Take and apply a cando entrepreneurial attitude to all aspects of problem solving clients and career.
- Liaise and build networks within the Hatch business to help solve problems and address opportunities in a global community of proactive outstanding team mates.
You bring to the role:
- Postgraduate qualification in Urban Design or related built environmental discipline.
- Up to 5 years experience as an Urban Designer or similar position.
- Advanced use of design software including Adobe Creative suite and Sketchup Lumion or similar/ and documentation software (MicrosoftOffice suite etc..
- Outstanding design and graphic skills (freehand and using software) including 2D and 3D presentation stills.
- Strong drafting/documentation skills (including AutoCAD) to prepare supporting plans/documentation for planning permit applications.
- Capable in developing design led options/solutions to achieve project objectives
- An understanding of urban design issues and planning and development requirements for designing at different scales and contexts.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with team members and external parties.
- A knowledge and understanding of planning processes and placemaking principles and techniques.
- Demonstrated passion for the built environment and the delivery of sustainable communities.
- Demonstrated accuracy attention to detail and high levels of presentation.
- Organizational skills including coordination of and participating in design workshops (online and inperson).
- Effective time management skills including the ability to prioritize workloads and perform tasks efficiently and demonstrated accuracy within project budgets/ timeframes.
- Possess high standards of professional and personal ethics and integrity.
- Strong capacity for teamwork and interpersonal/ social skills.
