Recreation Leader I

As a Recreation Leader I youll play a vital role in creating a safe fun and engaging space for kids in our summer programs. You will have the opportunity to mentor and guide youth and support staff (Recreation Aides) helping them develop leadership skills while assisting with daily activities. From organizing activities for camp participants assisting in professional development for support staff you will develop handson skills in leadership communication and teamwork all while making unforgettable summer memories.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION/TRAINING GUIDELINES Any combination of experience and education/training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience
Six months of experience working in a recreation program. Experience in working effectively with children and/or youth programs and in a recreational environment is desirable.
Education/Training
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by completion of twelve units in early childhood education child development recreation elementary education or a related field. Or completion of six units in early childhood education child development recreation elementary education or a related field and enrolled in three qualifying units per semester until twelve units are completed.
A Bachelors Degree may be substituted for the early childhood education child development recreation elementary education or related coursework requirements.
Certificates / Licenses / Special Requirements
Possession or ability to obtain current Pediatric First Aid and Infant/Child/Adult CPR certificates by date of hire.
Minimum Age Requirement
Must be at least eighteen 18 years of age.

No later than 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday March 12 2025 you will be notified whether you passed or failed the March 8 2025 interview.

Candidate Orientation
If you are selected to advance in the selection process you will be required to attend a mandatory candidate orientation session. One session will be offered virtually the other in person.
