Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Summer Resident Advisor
REPORTS TO: Summer Program Director DATE: Feb 2025 DEPARTMENT: School STATUS: Fulltime Exempt STIPEND: $525 per week. Additional compensation includes living accommodations and meals. A total of 8 positions are available.
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has been Pittsburghs premier professional ballet company since 1969. Today PBT is a nationally recognized ballet company of 36 professional dancers a training institution for over 1200 students of all ages and an incubator for education and accessibility programs in classrooms libraries and community centers throughout the region. The company under the leadership of artistic director Adam W. McKinney and executive director Nicholas Dragga performs a wideranging repertoire of classical ballets contemporary masterworks and new commissions in nearly 50 performances annually. POSITION SUMMARY
PBT is seeking responsible engaging and enthusiastic livein individuals to provide a supportive and safe environment for 130 ballet students ages 1220 residing at Chatham University residence halls. Resident advisors serve as the firs point of contact for residents and work to build and inclusive community through advisement program planning and consistent communication. Each RA will have one day off per week. There are two types of positions available: 7week RAs will work at both Company Experience and ISP and 5week RAs will work at ISP only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build community among residents
- Maintain resident safety and security in the residence halls at PBT Studios and during offcampus excursions
- Plan and facilitate fun and engaging activities
- Clearly and consistently enforce PBT School University and residence hall policies
- Communicate with parents/guardians
- Mediate issues such as roommate conflicts competitiveness and homesickness
- Respond to crisis situations and alert appropriate staff members
- Supervise hallways studios and common areas onsite at PBTto ensure student safety and timeliness.
- Serve as chaperone during offcampus excursions
- Serve on an onduty and oncall coverage rotation including both day and night shifts. The R.A. onduty is required to remain in the residence hall.

Resident Advisors should demonstrate the following skills and qualities:
- A passion for working with teens and young adults
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with adolescents in a residential or camp setting strongly preferred
- Able to work a flexible schedule
- Clearances (Federal Criminal History PA State Criminal Background Check PA Child Abuse History Clearance) are required following employment offer; this position is a mandated reporter and candidates must be comfortable in that role
- Licensed drivers with great driving records are preferred.
A Summer Program Director will be selected from all applicants. In order to be considered for this position you must have experience doing this work or similar. The Summer Program Director must be available for all seven weeks. The summer program director will receive additional compensation up to $750/week depending on experience. - Housing and meals are provided. Provided meals include breakfast lunch and dinner MondaySaturday. Sundays: Brunch only.
The dates for this position are eitherJune 4July 26 or June 18July 26depending on whether the individual participates in Company Experience. This position is a temporary position located in Pittsburgh Pa. Remote work is not offered for this position.
