Under the general supervision of the Lowcountry Region BEPR Section Director and the general programmatic guidance of the States Healthcare Preparedness Program Director within Healthcare Quality serves as the Lowcountry Healthcare Preparedness Program Coordinator for an eleven 11 county region.

Provides support to Regional Healthcare Coalition plans development sustainment and maintenance through Technical Assistance and Programmatic Review to assure compliance with state and federal program requirements and grant guidelines.

Supports Healthcare Coalition grant and financial development sustainment and maintenance through Technical Assistance and Programmatic Review.

Supports communitybased healthcare response operations by assisting with the development maintenance and sustainment of a deployable asset readiness report.

Supports communitybased healthcare preparedness and response through outreach coordination education and training.

Serves in designated coordination/emergency operations center to support the emergency response activities of the Public Health Region and the Healthcare Coalition.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelors degree and work experience in emergency planning operational planning public health management or other related experience.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Knowledge of emergency planning and response at the local and state levels. Knowledge of the technical functions in Healthcare Preparedness and Response and coalition management program areas. Knowledge of emergency operations center functions. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects. Ability to comprehend interpret and apply agency policies procedures and related emergency preparedness information. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with local and state organizations involved in public health preparedness or response. Ability to conduct conferences briefings training sessions and group discussions. Ability to assemble and analyze facts related to emergency preparedness. Ability to supervise staff members as required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of and fluency in the MS Office Suite. Ability to successfully complete required National Incident Management System training.

Possess a valid South Carolina drivers license and have 24hour access to reliable transportation. Able to work 37.5 hours per week with some hours before or after 8:30am5:00pm MondayFriday. Some evening and weekend travel may be required. Requires periodic overnight travel. Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Have full mobility in completing job related functions and responding to emergencies.

Participates in an emergency or major disaster to expedite services to the public as outlined in state/agency/regional/county plans. During such times the incumbent should regard themselves as being on 24hour call and subject to duty when such events occur or are anticipated to occur.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 3 three years of public health preparedness program and/or healthcare preparedness experience to include: coalition development grant/budget management plan and standard operating procedure development as well as exercise design and evaluation.

Additional Comments

Immunization:All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against Measles Mumps Rubella Pertussis Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the States Disaster Plan which includes hazardous weather DPH employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.

Driving Record: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid drivers license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10year driving record.
