Job Description

An Outstanding Boys school in Barnet is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable History Teacher for a permanent fulltime position commencing in September. The successful History Teacher will ignite a passion for the past in male students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver captivating History Teacher lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 covering a range of historical periods and themes.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE History examinations ensuring a solid understanding of key events and interpretations.
  • Cultivate a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking and an appreciation for historical context.
  • Assess and monitor student progress in history providing insightful and constructive feedback as a History Teacher.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the history curriculum and the creation of engaging resources.
  • Encourage student participation in historical debates and research projects.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in History.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching History at the secondary level (Key Stages 3 & 4.
  • A strong and comprehensive knowledge of British and world history.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills capable of bringing the past to life as a History Teacher.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate male students to develop a curiosity about historical events and their significance.
  • A commitment to collaborative work and a supportive ethos within the humanities department.
