Job Description

Job Title: ServiceNow CMDB Developer
Overview
The ServiceNow CMDB Developer plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) as part of the broader IT Service Management (ITSM) strategy within the organization. This position is vital for ensuring data integrity accuracy and availability of configuration items (CIs) that form the backbone of IT services. By developing and implementing CMDB solutions within the ServiceNow platform the developer helps drive operational excellence and supports better decisionmaking across IT functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background specializing in ServiceNow environments and will work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams to ensure effective integration and management of IT assets. By leveraging best practices and ServiceNow capabilities the CMDB Developer will significantly contribute to improving IT service delivery and support initiatives ultimately enhancing the organization s service management framework.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement the CMDB architecture in ServiceNow.
  • Gather and analyze requirements for configuration management processes.
  • Create and maintain relationships between configuration items (CIs).
  • Develop and maintain queries reports and dashboards for CMDB optimization.
  • Ensure data integrity accuracy and timeliness of CMDB entries.
  • Automate CMDB data population through integrations and discovery tools.
  • Conduct regular audits of the CMDB to identify discrepancies.
  • Work with IT teams to define and track the lifecycle of CIs.
  • Implement relevant CMDB best practices policies and procedures.
  • Develop scripts for CI data extraction and transformation.
  • Provide support for CMDBrelated issues and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with IT asset management to synchronize inventory data.
  • Help train staff on CMDB processes and best practices.
  • Participate in continual service improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation related to CMDB processes and configurations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with ServiceNow platform.
  • Strong understanding of CMDB concepts and best practices.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow scripting languages (JavaScript Glide etc..
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping modules.
  • Knowledge of relational database management (SQL).
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management framework.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience with security and access control related to CMDB.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven experience in data modeling and database design.
  • Certification in ServiceNow CMDB or related areas is a plus.
  • Experience in automated data collection and service optimization practices.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks.
  • Detailoriented with strong organizational skills.
