This is a temporary to permanent hire Service Contract Act position with an hourly pay rate of $ 27.75 that includes a Health and Welfare Benefit of $4.41 an hour.

Service Contract Act or SCA position pay rates are determined by the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division.

Upon completion of six 6 months of employment the selected candidate can expect an annual salary as a permanent fulltime employee with the federal contractor.

Work Hours of Operation: MondayFriday 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. 40 hours per week two 2 15minute breaks and 30minute lunch except for federal holidays unless otherwise stated

Qualifications:
  • Requires Paralegal Certificate or currently attending an ABAaccredited law school having completed at least one year of study 1L completed)
  • At least one 1 year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience
  • Must have basic legal knowledge including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as Lexis and Westlaw to perform basic legal research
  • Thorough knowledge and handson familiarity with a variety of computer applications including word processing databases (such as document review and file management systems) spreadsheets imaging and hardware systems
  • Role also requires basic familiarity with Electronically Stored Information ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working in a government and/or litigation support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications preferred
* Bluebook and cite checking experience
* Experience with Relativity eDiscovery database/ platform
* Strong analytic organizational and writing skills
* Trial experience
* Current or active clearance


Paralegal Position Commercial Litigation Office of Foreign Litigation
Civil Division U.S. Department of Justice
Responsibilities/Duties:

Paralegal position to support the Office of Foreign Litigation Civil Division U.S. Department of Justice. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Processing analyzing and monitoring evidence requests using the Office of International Judicial Assistances (OIJA) electronic database
  • Review and analyze new evidence requests and draft appropriate responses in the form of referral letters rejection letters affidavits and other correspondence to U.S. Attorneys Offices witnesses and foreign courts
  • Drafting court pleadings pursuant to 28 U.S. Code 1782 Assistance to foreign and international tribunals and to litigants before such tribunals and preparing the documents for filing in district court
  • Review and assist in processing requests seeking service on the U.S. government pursuant to the Hague Service Convention

Additional duties also include:
Contacting witnesses regarding new evidence requests
Following up with U.S. Attorneys Offices in relation to pending evidence requests
Responding to inquiries from the public relating to evidence and service matters received by phone and email
Assist attorneys with legal research relating to novel or complex evidence or service matters
Print file scan and copy documents or send out packages by FedEx

The abovementioned duties may be performed as single functions or in combination with one another.
