Job Responsibilities


Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career The SC Commission for Minority Affairs is seeking a hardworking and dependablecandidate just like you to apply! Under the supervision of the agencys Director of Small and Minority Business Contracting and Certification the Small and Minority Business Program Coordinator will serve to assist the work of the division as it pertains to providing certification technical and other assistance to small businesses.


Responsibilities of the Small and Minority Business Program Coordinator:

  • Serve as a liaison with the states small and minority businesses and other organizations providing services to them. Identify and form collaborative partnerships to advance the agencys small business initiatives. Provides certification and technical assistance to agencies and organizations to Identify the needs and address barriers to the delivery of service to small businesses.
  • Assists with the coordination of activities of the agencys Division of Small and Minority Business Contracting and Certification and its Small and Minority Business Advisory Committee.
  • Research and provide technical assistance in developing and drafting policies procedures and legislation regarding small businesses.
  • Conducts research and compiles fact sheets reports abstracts articles and other publications/documents for distribution to the public concerning the economic Impact of minority small businesses in South Carolina. Develops education and training programs to assist minority small business constituents.
  • Manages projects and programs to address needs of the population. Provides technical assistance to state and federal agencies local officials elected officials educational Institutions and other organizations. Researches and seeks grant opportunities for local and Inhouse funding to support program services. Oversees programmatic and evaluations of grant department projects.
  • Plans and coordinates under the supervision of the Public Information Director an annual calendar of events and events recognizing the accomplishments of minority small business entities and other related events as determined.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree in business management public administration or a related field and four years of related work experience.


Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant. Please note that some areas of the Agency may require anofficial certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area after hiring. Failure to produce an official certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.


Additional Requirements:

  • May require some overnight travel.
  • May require work beyond 37.5 hours per week.
  • May require nights weekends evenings and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in business management public administration or a related field and six years of related work experience or masters degree or higher and two years of related work experience.
  • Project Management experience or certification.
  • Working knowledge of the principles practices ethics and legalities of small business management.
