Job Description
The Department of Criminal Justice at Saint Augustines University invites applications for a parttime faculty position with primary responsibilities for instruction in our Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness minor and/or certificate program. This successful candidate will teach Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness courses in a traditional classroom setting or an online (asynchronous or synchronous) format as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory or advanced courses in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and providing learning activities that stimulate student involvement and encourage critical thinking. Courses may be offered in an eightweek format or a sixteenweek format. Courses and may be delivered facetoface or in an online synchronous or asynchronous format. Responsibilities: Teach facetoface or online courses during fall spring and summer semesters Proactively engage with and support the success of online students Proactively engage with and support the success of students Passing the Blackboard Certification Training offered through Saint Augustines University Be available for students via facetoface or virtual office hours Participation in departmental school and university meetings is encouraged Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook provided by the department chair Other related duties as required Saint Augustines University SAU drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution is a studentfocused comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. A fouryear liberal arts university with an average enrollment of approximately 1000 SAU sits on 105 lush acres just north of Downtown Raleigh NC. The institution offers more than 20 undergraduate degrees and a Master of Public Administration MPA Program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges SACSCOC . Additional Information: Employment is contingent upon a positive background check and proof of COVID 19 vaccination. Documentation of medical and religious exemptions will be accommodated. Required Qualifications
Masters Degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness or closely related field with eighteen graduate credits in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is acceptable. Work experience in the field is highly desired. Candidates with prior teaching experience in higher education will be given preference.

Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness courses Demonstrated ability to be an excellent teacher Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written mediums Maintain confidentiality and attention to detail are essential Proficiency with Microsoft Teams Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel PowerPoint and the Internet Demonstrate and adhere to high ethical principles to protect students Meet strict deadlines Exercise independent judgement but will seek counsel when necessary Knowledge of Saint Augustines Universitys policies and procedures including but not limited to Title IX HIPAA and FERPA guidelines
