Environmental and Spatial Technology Initiative Facilitator/Teacher
Job Summary:
Seeking a dynamic and innovativeEAST Initiative Facilitatorfor our junior high program. The EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) Initiative is a studentdriven technologyfocused program that empowers students to develop realworld problemsolving skills through collaboration critical thinking and communitybased projects. The facilitator will guide students in using advanced technology foster creativity and promote selfdirected learning while building meaningful connections between students and the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate astudentled projectbased learning environmentthat aligns with EAST Initiative principles.
- Provide guidance and support to students as they explore technology and apply problemsolving strategies to realworld issues.
- Manage and maintain atechnologyrich classroom ensuring that students have access to the resources needed for their projects.
- Serve as a mentor and facilitator rather than a traditional instructor encouraging student autonomy and collaboration.
- Build relationships withcommunity partnersto create authentic learning experiences and servicelearning opportunities.
- Assist students in learning and utilizing a variety of software hardware and emerging technologies including GIS mapping video production 3D design coding and more.
- Encourage students to develop leadership communication and teamwork skills throughpeer collaboration and public presentations.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress projects and achievements.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on educational technology and EAST Initiative best practices.
Qualifications:
- Validteaching certification(preferred but may not be required depending on district guidelines).
- Experience or strong interest intechnology problemsolving and projectbased learning.
- Strong facilitation and mentoring skills with a passion for empowering students.
- Ability to foster a collaborative andselfdirected learning environment.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn EASTspecific software and technology tools.
- Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills with students staff and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with EAST Initiative or similar studentled learning programs.
- Background inSTEM digital media GIS programming or multimedia production.
- Experience working with junior high students in a nontraditional learning setting.
