The Senior Director Global Microbiology & Sanitation will report to the VP Global Quality & Food Safety.The role will ideally be based at McCormicks global headquarters in Hunt Valley Maryland and will be eligible to participate in our 50/50 hybrid program 50 onsite and 50 remote per month). McCormick may consider remote work on a case by case basis for the ideal candidate.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the VP Global Quality and Food Safety the Senior Director Global Microbiology and Sanitation provides strategic leadership and decisionmaking for the development implementation maintenance and improvement of key Quality and Food Safety standards and the associated governance for microbiology sanitation standards and practices and hygienic design standards. The incumbent is the person accountable for the development and implementation of Quality and Food Safety initiatives related to microbiology spanning total Supply Chain product development and laboratory integrity across the enterprise. The incumbent will deliver microbiological performance excellence in McCormicks operating units through strategic leadership of regionally deployed resources. By leveraging a proven track record in global transformational leadership strong interpersonal communication and management skills and an ability to influence direct develop and inspire employees at all levels in the McCormick business the incumbent will develop and implement complex functional and business strategies and programs in all regions globally and across many diverse cultures. This will be done through skilled leadership with emphasis on the management and the development of a team of direct reports and others.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop strategic plan to transform technical and operating framework to drive Microbiological and Sanitation risk reduction leading levels of brand protection and to enable fundamental changes in practice to enable business growth.
- Communicate and gain alignment to the transformational plan at most senior levels of MKC globally in each region and crossfunctionally.
- Motivate and develop employees to embrace and drive of the strategic plan of a multiyear timeframe.
- Inspire leadership of globally dispersed team of microbiology and sanitation resources with full accountability to drive advancement of microbiological sciences sanitation practices customerfocused growthsupporting strategic transformation and the of all programs in all regions of MKC in labs in factories and elsewhere as required.
- Develop and support a globally dispersed and culturally diverse team of professionals of various skill and leadership levels.
- Write and deploy standards and assure and performance through direct reports and other functional resources.
- Establish systems to assure governance and effective performance vs standards and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop capabilities and technologies justify and attain funding assure deployment and of project of project through direct reports and other functional resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree or higher in Food Safety or Microbiology
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in food microbiology and food manufacturing
- Proven track record demonstrating the successful and effective ability to lead inspire and manage a team of people
- Ability to deliver regional microbiological performance excellence and microbiological business support through strategic leadership of regionally deployed resources
- Ability to partner crossfunctionally with colleagues at senior and peer levels in multiple geographies and cultures to and to demonstrate ownership for development governance and site level deployment through others of complex programs technologies and practices
- Ability to create and prioritize risk countermeasures based on risk tolerance severity and probability of occurrence. Ability to build effective cross functional continuity plans designed to mitigate business disruptions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD
- Auditing proficiency through training or certification (i.e. ISO 17025 ASQ CFSA)
- Thermal Process Authority
- Supply Chain Based certification focused on Quality and Food Safety: PCQI (or HACCP based on region)
