Senior Database Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop database software forlowlatencysystems at scale

• Application schema design/data modeling and implementation

• Advise software development team on best practices for interfacing product withPostgres and other database technologies

• Production performance troubleshooting of queries and data ingestion

• Work with and mentor other software engineers as it relates to database engineering and development

• Collaborate closely with DevOps and Platform teams to
  • design implement and maintain robust database deployment strategies
  • ensure high availability and reliability in production environments

• Developpythonsoftware that interacts with thedatabase

Qualifications:

• Bachelorsdegree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or closely related technicalfield

• Minimum of 8 years of database development design and software engineering experience

• Excellent SQL and PL/pgSQL programming skills

• Excellent knowledge ofscripting and pipelines as related to database migrations and testing

• Knowledge of RDBMS internals andarchitecture

• Database administration experience

• Experience with data modeling in collaboration with software teams

• Selfstarting and ability to work with minimalsupervision

• Knowledge of software configuration management principals and tools such as git

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with AWS and associated technologies

• Experience with at scale Postgres systems (billions of operations per hour)

• Basic Linux/Unix system administration knowledge

• Experience with data warehousing

• Experience writing DRY and modular scripting/automation in Python (or other objectoriented language)

• Experience within the energy industry

• Experience developing communicating and enforcing standards for database structure andcode

• Experience writing accessible documentation for internal and external customers (databaseteam and nondatabaseteam)

• Comfortwithbalancingmultiple prioritieswhileenforcing standardsandsupporting urgent product teamrequests
