Job Description:
As a Software Engineer at Pitney Bowes you will be responsible for advancing our Shipping API services applied to expedited shipping supporting Fortune 500 clients and a global footprint. Your success in designing and developing cloudbased offerings will be instrumental in advancing ourposition as a leader in the eCommerce space.
The wage range for this position is $115000 to $144000 / annually with the actual pay dependent on your skills and experience as they relate to the job requirements and the location where you will be performing the job.
This position will be located in our Shelton CT office. You will work a hybrid schedule with up to four days in the office.
You are:
A Software Engineer who enjoys designing and developing cloudbased offerings in the eCommerce space and you deliver with precision. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development with experience in designing developing and maintaining APIs. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively to deliver highquality solutions that meet our clients needs.
In this role you will join the eCommerce Engineering team in Shelton CT and report to the Director of Engineering.
You will:
- Design and develop cloudbased scalable extensible reliable and maintainable API platform that enables rapid deployment of new solutions
- Use a Javabased technology stack to build RESTful APIs that expose our core and critical business functionality
- Work with crossfunctional teams to design and develop innovative solutions meeting the needs of our internal and external customers
- Evaluate and incorporate new technologies into new and existing frameworks and platforms
- Build components that can be used across product development organizations
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for APIrelated issues
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the functionality and performance of our Shipping API solutions
- Collaborate with and mentor members of the global team
- Be agile and embrace change
You have:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing largescale missioncritical highavailability applications with a preference for candidates having 5 or more years of experience
- Design skills that are critical to working with the distributed engineering teams
- Demonstrable handson experience with a full Java technology stack: Spring/Spring Boot and J2EE
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies
- Experience with AWS or Azure cloud
- Experience with cloudnative technologies such as Kubernetes (EKS AWS /AKS)
- Handson experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka and/or AWS SNS/SQS
- The ability to work with architects to reduce conceptual architectures to Enterprise Integration and to communicate and document solutions to the development team
- Wellversed with microservice architecture
- Demonstrable experience in using process management tools like JIRA CA Agile Central (formerly Rally)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and distributed product teams in an agile environment
- Worked in a setting promoting crossfunctional collaboration and advocating for Agile & DevOps culture within a large organization
- The ability to work with geographically dispersed offshore teams
- Experience with GIT repositories and build management as part of continuous integration
- Exposure to Golang and Python
- Bachelors degree in computer science engineering or a related field preferred
