Job Summary:

The Office of Medical Education is searching for DOCS coach and coach substitutes for parttime positions associated with 0.050.10 FTE for the Trek Curriculum of MD Program with a start date of approximately July 12025.

All firstyear students enrolled in CUSOMs Trek curriculum participate in weekly small groups clinical skills training during their preclerkship year as part of the Developing Our Clinical Skills (DOCS) course. This dynamic experiential course is designed to produce humanistic student physicians by developing their foundational clinical and professional knowledge skills and attitudes via an integrated curriculum. The curriculum emphasizes communication and interpersonal skills cultural humility physical examination clinical reasoning and professional development while promoting patientcentered care teamwork reflection and coachlearner partnerships. Standardized patient interactions also comprise significant portions of the course.

DOCS coach and coach substitutes will facilitate a small group of eight 8 students and utilize a coach approach when delivering the courses curriculum. In addition to teaching students DOCS coach and coach substitutes will observe students clinical skills deliver individualized feedback evaluate student performance and provide effective remediation.

DOCS coaches and coach substitutes will be considered core faculty in the Trek curriculum. Core faculty influence and shape students learning environment as well as their professional identity formation and will be held to the highest professional standards. Although clinical skills coaching via small group facilitation during the DOCS course is the primary role of the DOCS coaches they will also be responsible for other tasks in the curriculum (i.e. directly observe and provide feedback on students clinical skills during subsequent portions of the Trek curriculum participate in competency and standard setting committees and teach elsewhere in the Trek curriculum).

DOCS Coaches and Coach Substitutes will report jointly to the DOCS Course Directors and the Director of Clinical Sciences.

Work Location:

Hybrid this role is eligible to work in a hybrid capacity and work onsite as needed for meetings and appointments. The employee must reside in the United States.
