Our People and Culture team are setting up a deadly new Aboriginal Employee Engagement team who will lead the charge in enhancing Aboriginal employment cultural safety and career and capability development across the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

About the Role

As the Senior Partner Aboriginal Cultural Safety you will lead efforts to create culturally safe workplaces by managing projects delivering training and providing advice. This role also collaborates across DCCEEW and other NSW Government Departments to improve cultural safety resources and training materials ensuring continuous improvement and meaningful change.

You will provide expert advice on integrating Aboriginal cultural safety into workplace health and safety people management and organisational processes. You will develop initiatives manage workplace cultural safety issues and monitor programs to drive continuous improvement and compliance with safety obligations.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultural safety and the ability to manage projects and deliver training. You will be skilled in evaluating programs providing strategic advice and ensuring compliance with safety obligations.

Most importantly you will have a highlevel knowledge of human resources legislation policies and practices along with experience in implementing clientfocused HR strategies especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential along with experience using HR management information systems and applying adult learning methodologies to engage audiences effectively.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or related field and/or demonstrated relevant experience

This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the AntiDiscrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Antidiscrimination Act 1977 for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

    • Is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and
    • Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and
    • Is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
