Job Description
Job Title: Structural Engineer
Location: Ottawa Ontario (fulltime onsite)
Salary: $80000 (commensurate with experience)
Company Overview: A dynamic engineering firm specializing in structural engineering and residential architecture with a diverse portfolio encompassing residential commercial and industrial projects across Ontario and New Brunswick. The firm is expanding its services to offer comprehensive solutions including mechanical and electrical engineering while maintaining a closeknit team to ensure the highest quality of work.
Position Overview: The firm is seeking a midlevel Structural Engineer with 47 years of experience and a valid P.Eng. license. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong background in consulting engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and analyze structural components for residential commercial and industrial projects ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Develop detailed construction plans and specifications using computeraided design (CAD) software.
Collaborate with architects contractors and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.
Conduct site visits to assess structural integrity and provide technical guidance during construction phases.
Prepare structural assessment reports and participate in the permit acquisition process.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices within the firm.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Masters degree is a plus.
47 years of relevant experience in structural engineering preferably within a consulting environment.
Valid Professional Engineer (P.Eng. license.
Proficiency in structural design software and CAD tools.
Strong understanding of building codes standards and construction practices.
Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
