Job Description
- Strong proficiency in programming environment and languages specifically Python (e.g pandas scikitlearn etc) and R.
- Strong understanding of machine learning techniques statistical analysis and time series forecasting.
- Experience utilizing data visualization tools such as Power BI
- Experience working with large datasets of manufacturing quality and sensor/IoT data
- Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to translate business problems into data science solutions.
- Cloud computing experience such as AWS Azure or Snowflake
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders providing recommendations that drive measurable improvements.
- Masters or Ph.D. in Data Science Engineering Physics Computer Science Machine Learning or related areas.
- 3 years of experience solving problems through statistical modeling applied machine learning and data analysis.
What We Offer
Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual meritincrease program and we are targeting a salary range of $106900$160400 based on your level of skills qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program which offers a cash bonus targeting 15 of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement:Employees are able to enroll in our companys 401(k) plan which includes a paid company match on a per pay period basis. In addition the company makes a retirement savings contribution of 5 of eligible earnings into the 401(k) Plan.
Paid Time Off or Vacation:We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition after being employed for six months eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year providing a total of 88 holiday hours.

Grasp the opportunity to apply data science to the physical world of manufacturing! We are looking for a data scientist with previous experience in manufacturing who is passionate about opportunities to improve the manufacturing process including increased reliability and product quality for our Wood Products manufacturing mills. We have a large manufacturing presence in North America with lumber OSB plywood and engineered lumber products mills in Canada and the United States. Our Weyerhaeuser brand and scale of operations make us a major player in the wood products business. You would be partnering with our manufacturing mills to identify analyze and solve complex problems related to production quality equipment reliability and preventative maintenance. Your work would directly impact operational efficiency improved product quality and mill uptime. You have a high attention to detail but are good at seeing the big picture and arent afraid to think outside the box and champion your ideas. You have experience articulating opportunity as well as creating and successfully managing projects. You are effective at communicating timely and relevant information to business leaders and internal partners.
The position is part of our central Data & Analytics team and will be located in Seattle WA.
Key Functions
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers maintenance teams and operations leaders to understand challenges and opportunities of our manufacturing processes.
- Analyze manufacturing process data sensor/IoT data and quality metrics to uncover actionable insights.
- Design and develop predictive models and identify the appropriate machine learning algorithms to forecast equipment failures optimize maintenance schedules and improve the quality of our wood products.
- Design and implement statistical process control methods and anomaly detection techniques to proactively address quality issues in the manufacturing process.
- Implement and optimize machine learning models including retraining and deployment to ensure continuous improvement and accuracy. Evaluated model effectiveness through rigorous testing and performance metrics.
- Present compelling validated stories to all levels of our organization including peers senior management and internal customers that communicate opportunities and drive strategic business initiatives.
- Create innovative insights and develop/maintain impactful reports dashboards and model outputs.
