Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Support Area Manager is responsible for all key results generated by the Logistical and Lab Units. Specific responsibilities include: safety and environmental improvement manufacturing support quality improvement customer support cost management process development capacity increases and facilities improvement. Additionally the Area Manager is responsible for the coordination and direction of the Logistics and Lab teams.
Responsibilities
- Work with Leadership to develop communicate and implement business plans to meet short and longterm business needs.
- Champion and implement change projects and processes that support continuous improvement
- Maintain aggressive cost reduction and technical productivity programs to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the businesses
- Provide leadership to set standards and expectations for the assigned units that promote teamwork trust ownership excellence creativity innovation and growth
- Plan and implement systems/programs to preserve capital assets
- Establishes and implements priorities budgets and short/long term production plans in conjunction with Texas City management team
- Act as a changeagent and champion site initiatives that support the longterm viability of the site and its respective businesses
- Ensure customer service requirements are satisfied
- Knows and role models the principles outlined in the Eastman Fair Treatment Policy and uses them to maintain an environment that is free from pressures and diversions not appropriate for a work setting

- Owns the area Maintenance schedule and adheres to the breakin process to ensure consistency and accountability for schedule changes

- Leads through Eastman principles by role modeling and auditing all performance and behavioral aspects involved with work i.e. quality work notifications prioritization schedule ownership
- Uses timely and consistent field time to provide effective performance coaching on a quarterly basis with follow up as needed to address low performers and drive home accountability
- Encourages and actively requests feedback on personal performance from all levels
- Strives to continually improve all systems processes and programs within their area to maximize safety and effectiveness
Productivity Maximizes productivity
- Sets expectations and uses feedback mechanisms to ensure Team Managers are accountable for consistent crew performance to facilitate effective work i.e. job site reviews and LOTO

- Recognizes and develops high performers for broader responsibility in TM or other department/division leadership roles
- Offer continual positive and constructive feedback to Team Managers and their teams to foster improvement and encourage good performance
- Addresses training gaps quickly provides input to Training Coordinator Team Managers Operators and Lab Technicians/Analysts to ensure the quality of their areas training and procedures
- Leverage people resources by implementing and supporting processes that enable employees to realize their full productive potential and to meet organizational needs
- Develops and leads employee team through positive employee/labor relations staff training and development grievance mediation and contract negotiations etc.
Operational Results
- Knows key parameters of every unit operated and/or maintained in his/her area of responsibility
- Maintains awareness of current or potential process and/or equipment issues under her/his area of responsibility
- Has responsibility for having technical expertise available and makes decisions that maintain a high level of operational/reliability discipline
- Implements effective processes to maintain safety reliability and compliance and then ensures that all area employees display discipline in their use
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar technical degree with a minimum of 5 years related manufacturing experience
- 5 years of leadership preferred; leadership in a union facility preferred.
- Candidate must possess demonstrated competencies in the areas of technical/process skills leadership and management abilities and written/oral/interpersonal communications.
- Ability to contribute effectively as an individual and within a team
- High degree of bias for action and ability to plan prioritize and work with minimal supervision
- Excellent commitment to task
- Candidate should have working knowledge of Excel Word and SAP
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental safety and health policies procedures guidelines and regulations including Process Safety Management
