As an Engineer/Scientist Intern you will work with an interdisciplinary team in a fastpaced deadline driven environment. You will assist project managers and client managers for multiple projects and clients. You will provide support to engineers and scientists with varying levels of experience and expertise. Youll gain exposure to environmental permitting and compliance for multiple media including air quality water quality solid waste and hazardous waste. Youll have opportunities to work with Montroses multiple business divisions to provide comprehensive services to our clients.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As an Engineer/Scientist Intern youll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multidisciplinary staff regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Learn to perform technical project work in support of the Companys environmental regulatory services programs.

  • Learn to develop business through marketing existing client relationships and networking.

  • Learn to prepare (or assist in the preparation of) compliance plans reports and permit applications for multiple state and federal environmental regulatory programs associated with the Clean Air Act Clean Water Act RCRA EPCRA and the Oil Pollution Prevention Act.

  • Learn to conduct site visits to gather data and information and collect samples (soil water air) to support environmental compliance at industrial commercial and institutional sites.

  • Learn to assist with environmental management system (EMS) and compliance program development.

  • Learn to assist with compliance plans including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans.

  • Shadow and learn to perform environmental compliance audits draft reports and assist with corrective action programs.

  • Assist with communications between clients and regulators.

  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.

  • Exercises safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations including attendance at all required safety training programs.

  • Participates in Companys continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.

  • Keeps uptodate and current on industry trends by completing formal training reviewing professional publications and attending professional workshops.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

  • To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in engineering geology or science discipline

  • Ability to travel 25 of time.

  • Ability to drive to client sites.

  • Ability to interface with crossfunctional teams and all levels of personnel/management

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Solid organization and time/project management skills.

  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. selfstarter selfmotivated).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word and PowerPoint).
