Why Its a Great Opportunity:In this role as a fullstack developer (IT Software Engineer 1 you will be contributing to the development of custom software systems and solving business problems for County departments and agencies. As a part of the experienced software team you will use agile software development methodologies and tools to streamline procedures continuously improve customer service and produce highquality code while working collaborativelywith other Software Engineers and Business Analysts.
Possible projects you may be a part in include: PALS AssessorTreasurer Information PortalLegal Information Network Exchange Medicolegal Death Investigation System (MEDIS) and Workday integrations.
You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of frameworks tools and languages such as Angular Grails Groovy Java JavaScript/TypeScript MySQL SAP ASE Docker AWS/Cloud Jenkins Karma Protractor Spock Cypress and Jasmine. You will learn to understand the Countys software architecture and shared programming library. Your Future in this Role:The IT Division has access to numerous training opportunities which include peer industry vendor and official Pierce County training as well as access to established procedures standards practices and system documentation. Our training program is designed to help you develop as both a professional in your role as an IT Software Engineer and as a Pierce County employee. Your work will directly impact your community and it offers a great foundation for future positions within the IT Division and Pierce County.
Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Perform professional functions in software programming and analysis.
- Assist in designing coding testing deploying maintaining enhancing and supporting County software systems.
- Assist in working with business customers in translating requirements into plans and specifications.
- Assist in developing new software and customize developing interfaces to or integrating with third party business systems.
- Work in a teambased environment communicating effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Collaborate on the identification of business and system requirements.
- Address customers information needs by developing technology solutions and supporting information and technology systems on multiple computing platforms.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A resume and cover letter are required for this position.
- An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in computer science or related field and two or more years of information technology experience required.
- Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis.
- Prior to receiving a Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of study students in their last term of education may be considered. The recruiting requirements of the position would have to be met prior to employment beginning.
