Program Overview Family Settlement ServicesThis position reports to the Manager of Family Settlement Services and is responsible for working collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure newcomers successful settlement and integration.This position supports newcomers to successfully adjust to their new lives in Canada. This position increases newcomers knowledge of community resources available to them and enhances local communitys awareness of needs and issues faced by newcomers and immigrants.
What You Will Do- Oneonone case management support with newcomer individuals and/or families guiding them through their settlement process into Canadian society.
- Engage clients in a holistic intake and assessment process to identify and prioritize settlement needs individually and for the family and develop settlement plans based on identified needs.
- Following a Newcomer Wellbeing Model (NWB) identify link and coordinate collaborative pathways with multiple internal and external resources responsive to client needs and in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Actively leverage internal programs and services and work with external service providers and government agencies to maximize newcomers access to resources and to enhance capacity for services.
- Plan develop facilitate and evaluate group programs and activities including online and inperson workshops.
- Plan implement and evaluate outreach plan that promotes the range of opportunities available to newcomers and their families.
- Offer a full suite of settlement services at a variety of satellite sites with partnership organizations.
- Collaborate closely with other WoodGreen teams and other agencies to plan services to meet clients needs.
- Maintain accurate uptodate records including statistical data enter data to relevant data management systems and create reports as requested.
- Meet the prescribed target for clients and related services.
- Keep up to date on all immigration and government services related changes to ensure service quality.
- Actively engage with schools libraries community organizations recreational centres faith organizations local employers health and family centres local immigrant groups malls ethnic media and websites to maximize newcomers and immigrants access to resources and to enhance capacity for services.
- Attend community meetings activities and events and actively promote WoodGreens roster of programs in a professional manner.
- Ensure the antiracism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved within the program.
- Participate in regular oneonone sessions with immediate supervisor.
- Participate in regular staff unit and other online and inperson meetings.
- Perform other related duties as required from time to time.
What You Bring to the Team- Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences Education or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two 2 years experience working oneonone to provide settlement services to newcomers including refugees.
- Fluency in a second language Tigrinya or Amharic is a strong asset.

- Experience working with lowincome multiracial multilingual immigrant and refugee communities.
- Welldeveloped interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and effective communication with clients staff volunteers and agency partners.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience in case management and supportive counseling.
- Strong intake and assessment skills; demonstrated information and referral skills.
- Experienced in workshop development and facilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to work and cooperate in a team and cross team.
- Strong organizational/planning skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong technology and documentation skills to inform program and meet organizational and funder requirements
- Be able to exercise sound judgment in varied circumstances with strong communication administrative and organizational skills and the ability to maintain a serviceoriented empathic approach in client service delivery.
- Available to work weekend and evening hours and at multiple sites
