Compensation:
Pay Range: $22.90 $37.25 / hour
$5000 new hiresignon bonus (fulltime only)

Multiple Shifts Available:
UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The shifts available for this unit are:
Fulltime AM: 3 12hour shifts per week
Fulltime PM: 3 12hour shifts per week

Unit Details:
The Neurology and Neurosurgery Unit is a new name and focus for an existing unit known as M8. This 25bed acute care unit is for general neurology and postsurgical neurosurgery patients. It also provides specialized care for patients with neurological disorders including epilepsy myasthenia gravis (MG) GuillainBarr syndrome (GBS) encephalopathy and multiple sclerosis (MS) as well as patients recovering from strokes and brain or spinal surgeries. Nurses on this neuro unit have a unique opportunity to establish care on a new unit and participate in a team nursing care model that partners each nurse with one patient care technician (PCT) which allows nurses to practice at the top of their scope and provide the highest quality of care and overall patient experience. UAB Neurology and Neurosurgery is consistently ranked among the top 50 programs of its kind nationally by U.S. News & World Report which also has ranked UABs program as No. 1 in Alabama. UAB is also Alabamas first Comprehensive Stroke Center so as soon as patients arrive we are prepared to deliver the latest stroke treatment. Additionally UAB has earned The Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery demonstrating UAB Hospitals dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commissions stateoftheart standards. UAB Medicine is also home to Alabamas only Level IV Epilepsy Center the highest designation available from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.

Job Description:
General Responsibilities Under general supervision to provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care. To orient patients and family members to surrounding environment acting as a patient advocate. To collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems. To evaluate patients response to care and report findings to RN document delivery of patient care effectively respond to emergency situations demonstrate positive interpersonal skills meet patients educational needs and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team. Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assists with patient care by executing and administering treatments and procedures directed by supervisor.

2. Reports to supervisor and other staff any patient issues or concerns.

3. Maintains accurate patient records; e.g. charts schedules procedures medication/treatment history etc.

4. Educates patients and family members in accordance with the established plan of care.

5. Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.
