Job Description

Who We Are:

We provide statewide leadershipof highly valued mental health & addiction prevention treatment and recovery at OhioMHAS!

We are looking for team members who will serve compassionately contribute & collaborate deliver quality and beaccountable.

What We Do:

OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide shortterm intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and communitysupported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

Functions as ward psychiatrist providing care to assigned patients: Admits patients completes psychiatric workup (e.g. identifying data chief complaints history of present mental illness past medical & psychiatric history personal & social history mental status diagnostic impression assets estimated length of stay); provides psychotherapy psychopharmacological therapy & other therapies in accordance with delineated clinical privileges; makes daily rounds; documents at least weekly patient contact & progress on interdisciplinary progress notes; responsible for development of patients individualized plan of treatment; heads Treatment Team; provides patient with or ensures patient receives Informed Consent on medications; requests second opinions capacity assessments etc. as necessary; consults with patient family members/significant others; confers with Case Managers Mental Health Agency & community social workers & physicians for discharge planning or problems with patient; attends court hearings as required; completes discharge summaries in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws Rules & Regulations; completes correspondence forms other requests for patient information (e.g. Medicare & Medicaid forms letters to employers letters of appeal to thirdparty payers peer review systems etc.; provides medical record documentation that meets Joint Commission & federal standards & requirements for Medicare reimbursement; assigned predominantly to inpatient site but may be required to work in community as directed by the Lead Chief Clinical Officer (CCO).

Reviews physical workup of patients; screens physical workups provided by Medical Practitioner or OfficeroftheDay; screens & initials laboratory finds xray reports etc.; makes referrals & consultation requests to facilitys Medical Clinic external facilities (e.g. general hospital or outpatient site) for physical problems & complaints.

Provides coverage for Admission Office as assigned; completes initial psychiatric assessment & brief physical evaluation as clinically indicated or specified by the Clinical Director; provides alternate emergency coverage for absent physicians as requested.

Conducts & participates in facility meetings & activities; serves on hospital committees as assigned; attends meetings of Medical Staff mandatory inservices training programs Journal Clubs Continuing Medical & Education programs etc.; conducts & participates in peer review activities; conducts & participates in lectures & seminars in psychiatry or related fields for staff physicians nurses direct care staff & other facility personnel; performs other related duties as assigned by CCO or Lead CCO (e.g. supervision of residents & medical students).

In an emergency/crisis situation at assigned site will remain on duty until situation is resolved & patient is stable.

May be required to work in community as directed by Lead CCO.

May be exposed to dangerous patients & infectious diseases.

May be required to travel.

Certificate to practice medicine per Section 4731.13 of Revised Code; satisfactory completion of residency training program in psychiatry as approved by the residency review committee of the American Medical Association the committee on postgraduate education of the American Osteopathic Association or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology & Psychiatry or has been recognized as a psychiatrist by the Ohio State Medical Association or the Ohio Osteopathic Association on the basis of formal training & 5 or more yrs. of medical practice limited to psychiatry per Section 5122.01(E) of Revised Code.
