The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill onesummer term Summer Project Intern position within our Michif LanguageDepartment located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg MB. The SummerProject Intern will be responsible for assisting the MMF Michif LanguageDepartment with research plans implementation coordination and ofDepartment Programs events and activities related to the revitalization ofthe Michif Language. The incumbent must be a Red River Mtis student betweenthe ages of 1830 who attended school fulltime during the previous yearand who intends to return to school on a fulltime basis in the followingacademic year.
Job Duties/Competencies:
Research assigned topics
Support the planning and coordination of MichifDepartment programs events and activities as assigned;
Creatively plan the updating of the MichifDepartment Website and social media content;
Aid with procedures for office administrationand records management as delegated;
Aid in proper coordination of all administrativeand logistical affairs;
Aid with implementation of program servicesand contracts as assigned;
Assist in the formulation of strategic planningfor the designated program implementation;
Attend meetings/events and maintain agenda as directed;
Assist in the development of informationbrochures and other public communications;
Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalency;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
Knowledge of or exposure to the Michif languagewould be an asset;
Experience in preparing usable electronicforms;
Ability to apply new technologies;
Strong organizational interpersonal and timemanagement skills;
Creativevision for social media posting and websites
Experienceworking as a Program Assistant or a similar role is considered an asset;
Experience working for a notforprofitorganization and Indigenous community is an asset;
Knowledge of Red River Mtis culture and MMFprograms and services is a definite asset; and
Abilityto travel valid Manitoba Drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle.
