10Week Summer Internship
DATE: May 21 2025 July 30 2025
Interns will gain handson work experience while exploring a career in Extension.
Responsibilities- Assist with the Tennessee Master Forage Program Field Day component of TMFP Hybrid Certification
- Collaborate with lab staff to create foragebased activities intended for 4H youth
- Learn about the forage testing process in the laboratory
- Provide support with online education to include infographics for use on social media platforms and creation of materials to accompany the Tennessee Master Forage Program and hay testing encouragement
- Aid in the development of various teaching handson materials and presentations
- Will assist with Live.Stock the UT Beef and Forage Centers YouTube/Podcast
- Assist with farm visits accompanying the forage specialist with handson experience interacting with producers in our state
- Travel to field days and events will be included in the summer experience
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications- Candidate must be enrolled in a college of agriculture natural resources environmental science or closely related major.
- Preference given to those that have completed at least 50 percent of the required course work for the Bachelors degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher and has at least one more semester to complete after the summer internship has ended. Preference will be given to students presently enrolled in the University of Tennessee Tennessee State University any other university or college in Tennessee or to a student resident of Tennessee enrolled elsewhere. Preference will also be given to those with Extension experience (i.e. former 4H member etc.. However all eligible applicants will be considered.
- Must reside in or live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned location. Housing not provided.
- Must have own transportation to and from work.
- Must present a written and oral report of the project accomplishments and training experience at the end of the internship.

Compensation and Benefits
- $7600 (gross) for the 10week internship is provided for each intern.
