Position Summary

Responsible for classroom laboratory and related instruction as well as curriculum development for courses within the Electrical Engineering Technology program. This position serves the needs of the College division faculty and students and reports to the Engineering Systems Technology Department Head.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

  • Teach assigned courses in discipline; facilitate the classroom instructional process
  • Work to develop and improve curriculum maintaining industry relevance
  • Select texts supplemental documents equipment supplies and other learning resources
  • use current technology in preparation creation and delivery of instruction
  • create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed
  • maintain updated course syllabi.
  • Maintain attendance and grade records
  • Mentor and orient faculty and staff
  • Maintain required classroom and office hours
  • Work collaboratively with advisory committee

Organizational Culture

  • Maintain a solid understanding of the College goals and priorities as they relate to the student experience
  • Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaged classroom experience for all students; maintain required certification and license
  • Act as a point of contact between the college faculty and VW personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and program outcomes review and analyze assessment data compile reports and meet academic and administrative deadlines
  • Implement strategies to prevent potential conflicts and maintain a positive learning environment. Resolve any conflicts in a timely and effective manner
  • Ensure campus compliance with all federal state and regulatory bodies guidelines along with internal policies of the College

Holistic Student Support

  • Model compassionate professionalism as an example to students
  • Understand the idea that not everyone learns in the same way (i.e. to improve the learning we can tailor our strategies rather than just trying harder studying more)
  • Integrate programs activities and initiatives to optimize the student experience
  • Provide a list of student resources and introducing many possibilities for learning that go beyond the students current practices
  • Prompt students to select and try various study strategies
  • Monitor student progress to promote student success
  • Provide counseling resources as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a qualifying field or an associates degree in a qualifying field with certifications or an associates degree in a qualifying field and 2 years applicable work experience or nationally recognized certification within subject matterORby exception. Teaching Experience is a plus.

Qualifying Fields: Electromechanical Engineering Mechatronics Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Engineering Engineering Technology Electromechanical Engineering Technology Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology or Technical related degree

Special requirements and conditions

A flexible schedule and some travel are required; a valid vehicle operators license is necessary.

Must be able to work with dualenrollment high school students (a background check and fingerprinting will be required).

Projected Salary Range:

Instructor: $40502 $49610

Assistant Professor: $45040 $56300

*Pay will be determined based on experience and education in accordance with the salary guidelines of the Tennessee Board of Regents. To ensure consideration all relevant work experience must be included in the application.*
