The Salt Lake Tribune is seeking a Sales Representative to help expand its groundbreaking nonprofit news model to communities across Utah. Since its founding in 1871 The Tribune has served as Utahs independent voice for news and information. In 2019 we were the first legacy news organization in the United States to become a nonprofit and we are helping lead a movement to build sustainable business models for local news. In 2025 we will build on prior expansion in Moab by launching new offerings in St. George and Cache Valley.
The Sales Representative will join a threeperson sales team at The Tribune. They will work closely with the Senior Account Executive who oversees sales for print products and The Moab TimesIndependent. In addition to supporting those two areas they will focus on increasing sales in St. George and Cache Valley. They will assist the Senior Account Executive on their client portfolio while also building their own client database with a focus on supporting local and independent businesses. These relationships are the foundation of The Tribunes business model and success here will help strengthen local journalism in Utah.
The ideal candidate will be selfmotivated highly organized and have a passion for the business of news. We have an opportunity to rethink what advertising means for todays local media and in doing so ensure The Tribune is set up to serve Utahns for another 150 years. They will be comfortable pitching writing and conceptualizing campaigns. They will follow and understand the latest in both digital media trends and advertising trends.
This role will have revenue goals associated with it. Compensation will include a commission plan.
This is a hybrid position with a central location available in Salt Lake City St. George Moab or Logan. A minimum of quarterly travel within Utah will be required.
