About the Role:

The Actuarial Function (Reserving and Capital) is instrumental in supporting this growth and longerterm ambitions with significant investment and wider Group collaboration in establishing a bestinclass actuarial set up.

The way EII is structured provides ample opportunity to make a tangible impact on the daytoday and future direction of the actuarial department and personally play a critical role in influencing establishing and growing the EII actuarial capabilities.

As a key member of the actuarial team you will be required to lead multiple deliverables interactions and propose initiatives for future enhancements to drive forward.

The role is broad with exposure to a wide network of business stakeholders and other actuarial functions project development and inquarter/offquarter activities. The successful candidate will work with autonomy in a supportive and encouraging environment. Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Oversight and engagement of syndicate deliverables and development of wider EII actuarial capabilities.

  • Develop talented team colleagues so they are ready to assume leadership positions in the coming years.

  • Quarterly reviews of reserves in respect of business written across international platforms.

  • Setting of key actuarial assumptions and methods for both GAAP and SII purposes.

  • Undertake regular portfolio analysis of classes.

  • Contribute and lead reserving discussions with underwriting pricing claims finance and reinsurance to improve underwriting results.

  • Work closely with the Head of Capital in embedding the new internal capital model parameterisation frameworks (reserve risk topdown validation scenarios etc) and documentation.

  • Collaborate with pricing actuarys and underwriters for sharing information influencing and to support reserving/capital assumptions used.

  • Timely delivery and concise communication of internal and external (Lloyds PRA) reporting.

  • Continuously improve analysis and outputs to ensure it is at the forefront of the industry in order to maintain commercial advantage.

  • Support the S2786 Chief Actuary by leading the production of the actuarial function component reports ensuring coordination with the EIID AFR to enable synergies and consistency.

  • Develop and comply appropriate controls over model inputs parameters judgements and outputs.

  • As International continues to grow and evolve the successful applicant will be heavily involved in the wider actuarial teams journey and evolution to deliver quality tools and insights which include:

  • Identifying planning and leading the of future enhancements to the reserving and capital modelling tools approaches and addvalue proposition.

  • Modelling and coordinating inputs to parameter updates.

  • Enhancing the monitoring MI and communication of key risks.

  • Ensuring best practice and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Key stakeholders include finance all actuarial functions underwriting claims IT senior management Lloyds external audit.

  • As a senior member of the actuarial management team you will be expected to both lead by example and play an active role in supporting the wider actuarial teams professional development.

  • This role will be highly visible and integrated as part of the wider actuarial team with opportunity to collaborate learn and contribute across the functions and business.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) or similar.

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Maths Accounting Economics Statistics Business or a similar field.

Knowledge Skills & Competencies:

  • Indepth knowledge and experience of GI reserving and capital modelling approaches.

  • Management. Empowering and developing others.

  • Experience of Lloyds reporting.

  • Excellent IT skills MS Excel MS Access SQL Power BI and ResQ.

  • Strong reserve and reserve risk modelling.

  • Standard formula modelling.

  • Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to develop junior colleagues to leadership positions.

  • Ability to simply communicate modelling process and results with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and through reports or presentations.

  • Ability to implement and apply strong financial controls in a simple framework.

  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with a strong appetite to network learn and develop.
