The Instructional Aide assists teachers and/or building principals in the supervision of students in the classroom during instructional periods and throughout the school environment as designated by the principal or teacher.
Duration: Immediate start to end ofschool year
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered qualified for this position candidates must minimally have the following:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with children and adults.
- Ability to relate well with students colleagues parents and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:
- Under the supervision of a certified teacher prepares for classroom activities.
- Works individually or in small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in providing assistance to individual children in need of special assistance.
- Provides assistance in independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up by the teacher.
- Assists teacher in noninstructional classroom duties (e.g. lunch snack bathroom and clothing routines etc..
- Assists teacher in activities such as but not limited to checking notebooks correcting papers and supervising testing and makeup work.
- Assists in drill work and reading.
- Assists teacher in preparing class displays/bulletin boards and caring for equipment.
- Assists teacher in duties relating to the supervision of playground study hall cafeteria bus loading etc.
- Assists teacher with students in the media center.
- Participates in inservice training programs when appropriate.
- To complete other tasks designated by the individual supervisor.
