The Department of Human Services is seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to join our team at Danville State Hospital. Your work in this role will help keep our facilities running smoothly so we can continue to provide optimal services for those in need. As a Utility Plant Operator 2 you will be responsible for the operation of the coal natural gas and oilfired boilers and their auxiliary equipment. You will serve as the lead worker for staff and follow standard operating procedures to provide leadership to staff members on shift. Your duties will include firing boilers reading gauges recording fuel consumption and maintaining required records of steam production and fuel consumption. In this position you will review the operation of all boiler plant equipment by visually inspecting listening and testing in order to detect any impending difficulties. You can expect to collect and test water samples perform preventative maintenance and operate various plant equipment. Additionally you will conduct safety tests such as emergency shut down procedures and generator operations.
