The Department of Human Services is seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to join our team at Danville State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Utility Plant Operator 2 you will be responsible for the operation of the coal natural gas and oilfired boilers and their auxiliary equipment. You will serve as the lead worker for staff and follow standard operating procedures to provide leadership to staff members on shift. Your duties will include firing boilers reading gauges recording fuel consumption and maintaining required records of steam production and fuel consumption. In this position you will review the operation of all boiler plant equipment by visually inspecting listening and testing in order to detect any impending difficulties. You can expect to collect and test water samples perform preventative maintenance and operate various plant equipment. Additionally you will conduct safety tests such as emergency shut down procedures and generator operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM Sunday Saturday.Your schedule will be determined and may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration);or
- One year of semiskilled work experience in the operation maintenance or repair of industrial commercial or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment;or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semiskilled work experience in the operation maintenance or repair of industrial commercial or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will requirea medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
