The Math Acceleration Academy is a four day intensive math and enrichment program designed for students in grades 6 7 and 8 who would benefit from additional math instruction to meet grade level standards and achieve proficiency on the MCAS examination. This program will run during the following dates:
February Break: Tuesday February 18Friday February 21 8:30am 2:55pm.
April Break: Tuesday April 22Friday April 25 8:30am 2:55pm.
The Acceleration Academy is based on a researchsupported program framework approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Each day will include two long blocks 90120 min) of targeted math instruction that is integrated with a handson STEM project. Each day will also include an hour of daily prep time during which students will participate in an enrichment activity. Each grade level 6 7 and 8 will have a capacity of 2 classrooms with approximately 10 scholars per classroom. Program staff will include 6 68 math teachers .5 paraprofessional support for each class and additional support for STEM integration.
The Math Acceleration Academy Principal under the direction of the Math Department Head and Instructional Coach will be responsible for all duties connected with instructional leadership as well as other duties required within the program to help maintain and foster a school climate that promotes high expectations of all students. The Principal will collaborate with the Program Manager for Summer/ Vacation Week programs on program design and logistics planning before and during the Academy. The Principal will support Academy teachers through program orientation and individualized coaching ahead of the academy as well as classroom observations and feedback during the program week. The Principal will also be the onsite building administrator during the program.
Time Commitment:
The anticipated time commitment for the Acceleration Academy Principal is approximately 67 hours between January 15 February 21 2025; or February 15 April 25 2025. This includes 12 hours of administrative work 15 hours of program development and training time 32 onsite program hours and 8 hours of program setup/breakdown.
MinimumRequirements:
The Acceleration Academy Principal must have a deep understanding of mathematical learning and experience in staff coaching curriculum development and evaluation.
Preference given to Cambridge Public School District staff.

Contract Amount:
$60.00 per hourly Not exceed $4020.00
