Job Description
JOB TITLE:School Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Transportation Services Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
School bus drivers transport students to and from school as well as to and from special events such as field trips. School bus drivers are responsible for keeping to a specific route schedule while keeping passenger safety the highest priority.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops
- Being alert to traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety
- Regularly checking vehicle safety through pretrip and post trip inspections and consistent monitoring of vehicle condition while driving
- Monthly reporting of fuel consumption and mileage
- Responding to emergency and nonemergency situations
- Reporting delays accidents and emergencies
- Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the bus
- Maintaining a clean vehicle including a weekly washing sweeping and dusting
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Class B CDL
- Passenger and school bus endorsements and airbrake restriction lifted
- Excellent driving skills
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass physical and drug test
- Must obtain required clearances
- Experience working with children preferred
- Patience
- Excellent communication skills
