Job Description

Pegasus Instructor Job Description

Role Overview

The Pegasus Instructor is responsible for planning and implementing various engaging ageappropriate and flexible curriculumbased activities for assigned homeroom communities. The role includes leading structured activities between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM and 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM incorporating special activities such as STEAM projects pool time and Lab Imagination Creations in the afternoon.

All planned activities must be communityfocused developmentally appropriate inclusive and handson fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The Instructor is expected to communicate openly with the Program Coordinator Director and Inclusion Specialists to meet student and staff needs.

Responsibilities

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Develop and implement daily activities in various areas including arts crafts cooperative games science reading building drama STEAM music and dance.
  • Collaborate with assigned classroom staff to delegate responsibilities and ensure smooth of activities.
  • Maintain constant supervision of children ensuring safe and efficient transitions between activities.
  • Greet and engage with children and families upon arrival and departure.
  • Actively participate in all Pegasus Summer Program activities including recess snack time lunch field trips special events water play and more.
  • Keep homeroom spaces organized and childfriendly with clearly posted daily schedules.
  • Support toileting routines including diaper changes as needed.
  • Assist with daily cleaning and organization of classroom and activity areas.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned by the WSCP Coordinator or the Director of Wayland School Community Programs.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with homeroom team members Inclusion Specialists and Coordinators to support childrens individual needs including IEP accommodations and allergy concerns.
  • Coordinate with other team members to create cohesive themebased programming.
  • Foster open communication with colleagues administrative staff and families.
  • Serve as a liaison between parents and program staff ensuring timely communication about student progress and concerns.

Leadership and Staff Support

  • Provide leadership and guidance to homeroom staff including Group Leader Student Leaders Special Education Assistants LITs and CITs.
  • Support staff in carrying out group activities offering suggestions and problemsolving as needed.
  • Oversee student checkin and checkout procedures to ensure safe dismissal.
  • Attend all staff meetings and required training sessions before and during the program.
  • Participate in the Pegasus Family Open House and other program events.

Program Setup and Closing

  • Adhere to a predetermined supply budget ensuring the availability of openended multiuse materials.
  • Submit supply requests to the Coordinator and Administrative Coordinator by the beginning of June.
  • Participate in collaborative planning sessions summer training classroom setup in June and program cleanup in August.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred in Early Childhood Elementary Education or related field).
  • 2 years of experience in planning implementing and supervising group activities for children.
  • Experience or coursework in IEP implementation accommodations and modifications.
  • Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creativity adaptability and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.

Job Details:

  • Type: Seasonal June August 2025
  • Citizenship residency or work visa required
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (C.O.R.I. Sexual Offender Record Check (S.O.R.I. and fingerprints.

Compensation

  • $26.11 $28.32 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
  • If assigned as a Specialty Leader the pay rate is $27.41 $29.08 per hour requiring 4 years of experience in the designated specialty area. Program needs and staff experience will determine this position.
